Hello, World!
Vancouver Web Developer
You should read this if you have an interest in learning more about me as a software developer.
I love building things. The internet, and by definition software, provide a vast canvas for creation. Nothing is more connected, available, and flexible as web technology. There is simply no other platform on the planet that has the reach of the internet. I argue that the internet is the most important innovation to date. As a simple exhibit, I would point to the smartphone within reach of almost everyone we know and love. The world's knowledge is seconds away, you can communicate with anyone on Earth in the same amount of time. The possibilities of the internet immediately captured my imagination. I count myself blessed to be able to work with one of the most important inventions of our time.
I have worked a lot of jobs over the years. From serving coffee as a barista, being a line-cook, a brief stint in the trades, working in a sales role, starting a company, and bootstrapping a SAAS startup. All these experiences serve to enrich my understanding of the ubiquitous role software plays in the world. I started BIZ.BIZ to fulfill my interest in having a side project while I work full-time (currently in HVAC equipment sales.)
Project BIZ.BIZ
Enter this project with a very silly name, and domain. The internet I grew up with always had an irreverent side - near infinite creation comes with the ability to make silly jokes and see life in a light-hearted manner. This project is inspired and forged in that spirit. BIZ.BIZ does not take itself too seriously, this is not me pretending to be a mega-corporation or even a small sized agency. This project is just me (for now.) I take my craft as a developer seriously, but the imagery and pageantry of branding and persona both take a second seat to building software that works, and works simply.
If I could impress anything upon readers, I simply summarize this project as the author thinking differently.
Beyond this prelude, I believe my productions are good windows into getting to know me better! I like to emphasize simplicity, discoverability, and parallelism; I hope my work demonstrates these areas of focus. Click around; the water's warm.
